There is a 1906 five-bedroom Farmhouse on the property, which is available for rent. The house has been lovingly restored to host guests in a variety of communal settings. The farm table in the kitchen is the perfect spot for conversation, eating or crafting. The living room has a cozy sofa that encourages relaxation. The study is filled with books for any curious readers and comfy leather furnishings.  Upstairs you will find 4 bedrooms… (2) queen beds (1) double bed (1) trundle bed and a full bathroom. Downstairs there is an extra bedroom w/ a pull-out sofa and plenty of room to get ready for your big day located right next to the second full bathroom. The outside space has an intimate patio with furniture, heat, festoon lighting, and gas BBQ. The house is equipped with cable and free Wi-Fi.  Sova's Farmhouse rents at $1,850 for a Friday-Sunday rental.

What is your site fee for a wedding or Event?

The site fee includes exclusive use of the tavern and gardens.

  • May 1 through October 31 site fee is $7,500

  • November 1 through April 30 site fee is $5,500

  • Call for non-weekend pricing and non-wedding pricing (community & corporate events)

What is included in the site fee?

  • Natural Wood Folding Chairs with Light Tan Pads

  • 72” Round Tables for Dining Table (accommodates 10 people at each)

  • 9' Market Umbrellas to accompany each Dining Table

  • Sova Staff to set ceremony chairs and dining tables

  • Globe String Lights on Redwood Deck, Pavilion Lawn, and Pavilion Dance Floor

  • Private Bridal Bungalow & Patio for day of "get ready" 

  • Parking for 65 cars and vendor/truck parking

  • Access to the venue the day before your event is available after 3pm for deliveries and rehearsal (2 hours maximum)

  • Access to the venue at 9:00am day of event for vendors (Events can begin at the time you choose and must end by 10:00pm)

  • On-site Venue Manager

  • Rehearsal dinners are not permitted on the venue property or in Farmhouse

WHAT IS your maximum capacity?

Indoor Tavern: 150 Stand Up Reception
Outdoor Gardens: 200 Seated

Events with 150 guests or more are required to use parking attendants for the arrivals only. 2 Attendants for 2 hours, @ $150 total.

WHAT IS the timing for events?

All events must conclude by 10:00pm, with a 6 hour event window. Access to the venue for set-up is 9:00am on event day.

do you require a wedding planner?

Yes.  Sova requires a day-of wedding coordinator.  If you need assistance selecting one, please inquire for a list of suggested planners.

Do you have a required vendor list?

We have a list of approved caterers.  You must choose one of the caterers from this list.  All other vendors are recommendations ONLY.  Outside of catering, you can bring in any other vendor of your choice.  Please inquire for a full list of each.


You may provide alcoholic beverage for your event (including liquor) without any Sova corkage fees. Properly licensed service staff, through your caterer, is required.

Where is your closest lodging?

There is a 5-bedroom Farm House available to rent on the property. View here!  The house rents at $1,850 for a Friday-Sunday rental.  In addition, there are multiple house rentals and hotels nearby.  Please inquire for a full list.  Yes, the property is handicapped accessible.

Is SOVA licensed and insured?

The beginning of a great celebration


Established in the early 1930’s Sova Gardens was built as a chicken farm. Throughout the years however, Sova has become many things including a turkey smokehouse and a dance hall during the prohibition years. Today, Sova operates exclusively as a venue for weddings, corporate retreats and community events. 

Who are we?

Owned and operated by husband and wife, Sova Gardens reflects the love and attention of a family owned property. With a remarkable and extensive background in corporate and private events, Denise Looney had her heart set on owning and designing a special event venue, bringing that dream to reality when she purchased Sova Gardens in 2005. Her husband, Paul Martinez, also with a lengthy career in corporate event production, partners once again with Denise to operate Sova’s events and manage the facility.

What’s in a name?

Sova is nestled in Sebastopol’s vine laden wine country only 6 miles from downtown. After learning of Sebastopol’s Ukrainian roots, and observing the two owls that lived in the 40 year old date Palm Trees by the farm house, our venue finally had a name! “Sova” is the Ukrainian word for “Owl”. Denise liked the symbolism of birds being monogamous and the venue hosting weddings for couples embarking on their future together.
